Duty Manager

We are looking for an awesome Duty Manager to join our team!

We are an owner operated restaurant in the heart of Ponsonby focused on delicious food, wine, specailty drinks and great service. We are a close, young and professional team who thrive in the busy buzz of hospitality. We have amazing customers, mostly regulars, who are great people to be around. It feels like a community rather then a customer-business relationship.

About the role:
We are looking for a duty manager to join us, hours are flexible depending on the candidate. Can be 25 or more hours.  Ideal candidate will have experience as a duty manager in a busy restaurant, or is a senior waiter who is looking to up skill into a duty manager roll. This is a supporting role where you will be working closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of shifts. You will be responsible for the management of our team and ensuring our guests are having the best time possible in our restaurant. You will also have to follow systems to manage the close of the restaurant on each shift of yours. Loving systems and organisation is great. Overall it’s a fun, professional environment and we really care about you. We work hard to support you in having a work life balance which means a flexible roster that suits you, as well as us.

You should:
You should love hospitality and people and want to work in a positive environment that you contribute to.

  • Have at least 1 years of recent experience as a duty manager or 3 years as a senior waiter in a busy restaurant
  • Have great attention to detail and time management
  • Have a high level of trust and responsibility
  • Have good communication and organisation skills
  • Be able to delegate and communicate effectively with your team
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends (flexible roster)
  • Be capable and happy to work all FOH roles when needed
  • Be kind, humble, charismatic and optimistic
  • Love hospitality and have an interest in the restaurant as whole
